The Pacifican is a long-standing tradition of a student-run publication focusing on the voices of the student body through concrete and detail-oriented journalism since 1908. The staff is working to make it bigger and better than ever before, while simultaneously preserving its legacy as Pacific's official newspaper. Through a growing staff, new and returning members, an official posting schedule of over five weekly articles, and a brand-new email newsletter, the Pacifican is helping to promote campus life and a sense of community.
Your gift will help Pacific students successfully navigate an ever-changing global media landscape. Every gift, no matter the size, counts and makes a meaningful difference in the lives of student journalists. Thank you!
Here is how your gift can impact The Pacifican and its staff, now and in the future:
Limited Print Run: Gifts to The Pacifican fund a year-in-review limited print release at the end of every academic year. $500 will cover next year's publication.
Staffing: It takes $18,000 annually to provide stipends for five student editors and managers to oversee a staff of 25 journalists.
Student Development: Next year, The Pacifican aims to send as many students as possible to journalism conferences, to develop their skills and network with student journalists from other institutions. $5,000 will cover expenses for three to five Pacifican staff to participate.
