Gladys L. Benerd School of Education
Learn. Lead. Change.

Our mission is to prepare thoughtful, reflective, caring and collaborative professionals for service to diverse populations. The School of Education directs its efforts toward researching the present and future needs of schools and the community, fostering intellectual and ethical growth and developing compassion and collegiality through personalized learning experiences.

We encourage you to provide additional students with the opportunity to become leaders in education by giving on one of the following funds during Pacific Gives 2018. You may also choose to give directly to any department.

Council for Exceptional Children

  • A critical element of Benerd’s teacher preparation program is experiential learning, side by side with educators, students and families in the community. Special Education credential candidates in the Benerd School of Education formalized the Pacific chapter of The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) to concentrate their community outreach in two annual events. The first event is “Spark of Night”, a prom for over 250 local individuals with exceptional needs co-hosted with United Cerebral Palsy.

  • Your gift will go toward creating a night to remember for both Benerd students and local high school students with exceptional needs.

Pacific School Psychology Association (PSPA)

  • The PSPA's primary goals are to bring awareness to the field of school psychology, provide Benerd students with funding for learning opportunities, and become active in campus and community life. With the support of donors, the PSPA can continue to work with national districts and train active members in the field of School Psychology. One goal this year is to provide the opportunity for members to attend the National Association of School Psychologists Conference in Spring, 2019. With your support, we can help the PSPA attend the conference and enhance the support we provide our local community.

Educator’s Impact Fund

  • The fund will support initiatives that enhance the Benerd student experience such as professional development opportunities, special projects or other unmet student needs; and that will support the Benerd presence in educational enrichment activities in local PK-12 schools or other community education-related programs.

Benerd Sacramento Innovation Fund

  • This fund will directly support initiatives that advance the work of Benerd Sacramento programs, faculty, and students including research and inquiry, community outreach and fostering a network of leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs.
