Callison College and SIS Study Room

Dear Fellow Alumni, Classmates, and Former Students of Callison, Ray/Cal, and School of International Studies:

Hardly a week goes by when we don’t reflect on how our experience at Callison College or its successors Raymond/Callison (Ray/Cal) and the School of International Studies (SIS) changed our lives. UOP launched Callison as an experimental, liberal arts cluster college devoted to experiential learning with a focus on the non-Western world. SIS, now a school within COP, has built on that legacy, preparing its graduates for careers in industry, government, educational institutions and not for profit organizations through international, interdisciplinary and intercultural immersion. The alumni of Callison, Ray/Cal and SIS, over 1000 strong, have distinguished themselves with careers in all facets of domestic and international work. Our education inspired us to appreciate the importance of cross-cultural learning in whatever career path we chose.

We now have an opportunity to “pay it forward.” Pacific’s Development and Alumni Department has approached the three original cluster colleges---Raymond, Covell and Callison---with a proposal to establish named study rooms in the newly renovated Holt Memorial Library. Raymond has met its fundraising goal and Covell has started its pledge drive. Callison and SIS can do no less! We have formed a steering committee comprised of graduates of Callison, Ray/Cal and SIS to raise funds for the largest study/conference room to be named after Callison College and the School of International Studies. The room will be marked by a plaque and will contain materials reflecting the schools’ rich legacy and promising future. It will be a durable symbol of the University’s historic and future commitment to expand and strengthen international and cross-cultural studies, and will entice students from other schools at Pacific to take advantage of what the current School of International Studies has to offer.

We need your support to raise $30,000 to fund this room in honor of Callison and SIS.

With an alumni base of over 1,000 graduates and former students from both schools this amount is within reach. We hope for donations of $100 or more, but any size donation is welcome. We want the broadest participation from our fellow alumni. With each of us participating, we could easily reach that goal. It would demonstrate to the Pacific Community how much we care about sustaining and strengthening a strong international program.

Please join our efforts now. You can make an online secure cash donation on this page or pledge an amount over time to Jen Aldridge. Funds and pledges need to be received by December 31, 2019 to designate the Callison/SIS Room and affix our plaque to the door. Please specify on your gift form if you wish to be listed by name as a donor or anonymously (without specific amounts) on the webpage. This list will be updated on a continuous basis until we reach the $30,000 goal.

Honor the Callison legacy and promote the future of SIS and its continuing focus on international and cross-cultural studies at UOP by contributing today.

Sincerely,
