At the University of the Pacific, Dr. McCormack was not only a pioneer visionary for the OTD program, but also a friend and mentor to the community. To honor the memory and legacy of Dr. McCormack, consider making a gift to support Occupational Therapy at Pacific's School of Health Sciences. His genuine passion for occupational therapy and his dedication to watching students succeed were evident to all who knew him. Dr. McCormack's mentorship was a key factor in the successful development of the program, and his impact will be felt for years to come. Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. McCormack was deeply involved in state and national occupational therapy associations. As Chair of Government Affairs, he played a pivotal role when occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants achieved licensure in California. His leadership extended to serving twice as Vice President of the Occupational Therapy Association of California (OTAC) and on the Board for the American Occupational Political Action Committee (AOTPAC). He was a respected member of the editorial boards for the Annals of International Occupational Therapy and the Open Journal of Occupational Therapy (OJOT) for Western Michigan University.

In his retirement, which began in 2021 in Seaside, California, Dr. McCormack became a prolific painter, showcasing his work at the Monterey Peninsula Art Foundation. He cherished his walks on the beach with his wife, Norma, and their miniature Australian shepherd, Kaia, and enjoyed travels and visits with family and friends. Dr. McCormack’s life was a testament to the therapeutic value of art and the transformative power of creativity. His paintings stand as a tribute to his belief in the greater good that art can bring.

Dr. Guy McCormack touched the lives of many throughout his career in occupational therapy and as an artist. His legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him and those who benefit from his work.
