The Dr. Patricia A. King IDS Scholarship Endowment

The Dugoni School International Dental Studies (IDS) Program has attracted qualified internationally educated dentists for more than 35 years. The IDS program is a two-year commitment that confers a DDS degree and board exam eligibility. IDS student dentists receive training essential for a successful U.S. dental practice within the Dugoni School’s culture of academic excellence and high clinical standards.  

Three grateful and inspired alumni have created an endowed scholarship to assist a 2^nd year IDS student with demonstrated financial need, and at the same time, to honor long-time program leader, Dr. Patricia King, now retired. 

Thanks to the generosity of Drs. Noor Bashandy, Maya Taifour, and Huai Phen, the Dr. Patricia A. King IDS Scholarship Endowment was established in 2022 as a Powell Matched Fund. This means that all qualified donations to the scholarship will be 100% matched by funds from University of the Pacific’s Powell Fund (read more here). 

Dr. King warmly expresses her enthusiasm for working with the many IDS students during her years with the program, admiring their skills as well as their initiative in coming to the United States with a willingness to learn and expand their practice of dentistry. As the Dr. Patricia A. King IDS Scholarship Endowment grows, it will mean more support for even more IDS students, for whom there are few other financial grants available.
