Dave Fletcher left an indelible mark on the School of Engineering and Computer Science and the university as a whole through his teaching, mentorship and service from 1973 to 2008. During his time at Pacific, he published a textbook, Mechanics of Materials (1985), he served as chair of the Civil Engineering Department (1992), and was named the San Joaquin County Engineer of the Year (2006). In addition to the many SOECS students he mentored, Dave made tremendous contributions to the university's general education curriculum over the years and served on a presidential search committee. Dave retired from teaching in 2006, but remained at the university to manage the construction of the new Biology building and the De Rosa University Center through 2008. You can read more about Dave's life and career in his Oral History Interview here.
Dave Fletcher touched the lives of countless future engineers and he was proud to have been a part of their journey. Help us honor his life and career with a gift to the Civil Engineering and Engineering Management Endowed Scholarship in his memory.
All gifts will be matched, dollar-for-dollar, by the university's Powell Match Program. If you are interested in setting up a multi-year pledge to support this fund, please contact Dan Mackeben.
