Pacific Rugby has been a beloved tradition for generations, most recently lead by the legendary Coach Kreg Nelson. His service as head coach from 2008 until his passing in May of 2020 lead to many victories and life changing moments for his players, staff, and fans.
“Coach Kreg made me overcome my fears and gave me a place to belong where I never thought I would have.”
“Kreg was consistent. You always knew what he expected of you. He had the kind of consistency that exposes people’s deficiencies and challenges them to become better. He taught me to know who I am. To never be ashamed of it and to be consistent in my own character.”
“Coach Nelson had high expectations of us all, and we are all better people because of our time being coached by him."
Help us honor this incredible club, our powerful bond, and Coach Nelson by supporting the Kreg Nelson Endowed Rugby Scholarship. Your gift today will make a significant difference in recruiting and retaining deserving students.
Each year, in perpetuity, this fund will provide support to Pacific students who are participating on any Stockton campus Rugby (Sport Clubs) team. Current members of both the men's and women's teams will be eligible to receive the award. Once we reach $50,000 in gifts, the Kreg Nelson Endowed Rugby Scholarship will automatically be doubled by the university's Powell Match Program bringing the fund to $100,000. This will garner up to four scholarship awards a year, which will increase the number of students impacted.
Give today to the Kreg Nelson Endowed Rugby Scholarship.
And come celebrate our rugby bond in person at this year’s Tiger Rugby Club Alumni Game. It’s on Saturday, October 15, during Homecoming weekend, with a kickoff at 1 pm. For more information, contact Benjamin Reece.
If you are interested in setting up a multi-year pledge to help us endow this scholarship, please contact Jeanine Simnick, Assistant Vice President of Annual Giving.
