Our goal for 2019’s Generosity Never Retires annual appeal was to raise $15,000. With your amazing support, we met and beat our goal, raising a total of $15,199.
Thank you for helping to make a difference. With your donations, you have helped build a strong future for OLLI at Pacific.
Missed the annual call for donations? No worries! We accept donations year-round. No gift is too small to help lifelong learning thrive. You can donate in honor, in memory of, or on behalf of a loved one as well as anonymously.
With four months to go, we are at just over 75% of our goal! Thank you, so much, to everyone that has given to this campaign in support of lifelong learning at University of the Pacific. We are living up to our new official designation as an Age-Friendly University! We are fulfilling the AFU principles such as; Promoting intergenerational learning and to facilitate the reciprocal sharing of expertise between learner of all ages and enhancing access for older adults to the university’s range of health and wellness programs and its arts and cultural activities.
One of the goals of the Generosity Never Retires campaign is to continue to improve our variety of offerings. Thanks to your generous contributions we have been able to add more important programming this semester than ever before. We added a second intergenerational class for FREE! A book club that meets with Pacific psychology students to discuss Mitch Albom’s best-selling book: Tuesdays with Morrie a true story about a journalist and his mentor. After the discussions a screening of the film will be watched. Also new this year we are also offering Active Aging Week activities for FREE. We are focusing on Health and Wellness with presentation topics such as; Improve Your Mobility, Keeping the Journey Independent and a FREE Tai Chi Chuan Qigong class for anyone who wants to see what a mostly seated Tai Chi class is like.

OLLI@Pacific celebrated their success and spread the word about the Generosity Never Retires fundraising campaign on Thursday, June 13th at Klinkerbrick Winery in Lodi.
Over 100 OLLI members and staff came together to enjoy a lovely evening of wine, appetizers by Bon Appetit catering, and music by Kevin Swenson, a recent graduate from the Pacific Conservatory of Music. Program Director Jennifer Juanitas shared information about OLLI@Pacific’s finances, gave a status update about the campaign and read a letter written from an OLLI scholarship recipient. Everyone in attendance enjoyed the beautiful scenery, cool Delta breeze and catching up with friends.
Just six weeks into our campaign and we have exceeded the halfway mark! This is a fantastic start, THANK YOU to everyone for their generous donations. Let's keep this momentum going!
Scholarships: As part of this fundraising effort we have received $600 towards our scholarship fund which covers approximately six new OLLI memberships in the next semester.
Improving Our Variety of Classes: We are adding new programs in the fall, including special programming for "Active Aging Week" and new courses such as Exploring Latin America and Death Over Dinner.
Increased Outreach: Thanks to our wonderful partnership with the Development Department, we have identified a foundation that has similar goals with aging societies and we are applying for a grant from them. We have specifically asked for money for scholarships and programming for our lunch and learn programs. The lunch and learn programs would be open to the public allowing us to expand our reach to our community.
Make sure to save the date for our Generosity Never Retires Summer Social, Thursday, June 13th, 5:30-7:30 at Klinker Brick Winery. Invitations coming soon!
We are so grateful for your support of lifelong learning at OLLI@Pacific.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Juanitas
