McGeorge School of Law established a Virtual Food Pantry to support McGeorge students experiencing food insecurity in 2020. Faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of the Law School came together to financially support and ensure that our students have this basic need met so they could focus on their education. The Virtual Food Bank allows McGeorge students to obtain a $100 grocery store gift card up to two times per semester.
While this fund became even more critical to the survival of our students during the pandemic, the need for support has continued unabated. Food insecurity is a real concern for many students and their families who are already making major sacrifices to pay for a legal education.
Since establishing the fund, we have distributed 1,055 gift cards ($105,500). Strikingly, this academic year, we already have distributed 312 grocery store gift cards.
